The classic choice. Individual blocks can be lifted and relaid, so repairs are simple.

A seamless, modern finish that is kind to feet, buggies and wheelchairs.

Durable and economical, best for larger or longer drives.
As a rough guide, £40 to £80 per square metre in the NG17 area, depending on the size, the blocks you choose and how much groundwork is needed. Quotes are free for Sutton-in-Ashfield, Mansfield, Kirkby-in-Ashfield and surrounding areas.
A typical single-car block paving driveway takes one to two days once the old surface is out; larger drives or tight access can take up to five days. The work covers excavation, a compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base, edging, laying and sanding the blocks. Your fixed quote includes the expected start and finish dates.
As a rough guide, resin-bound driveways cost £135 to £195 per square metre in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, including labour, materials, digging out and preparing the base. Where your drive falls in that range depends mostly on how much digging and preparation it needs, then on the area, the aggregate you choose and access. Yes. Resin-bound surfaces handle freeze-thaw well and are permeable, so rain drains through instead of pooling. We use UV-stable resin so the colour holds for years.
Resin-bound and gravel are fully permeable, so rainwater drains straight through. Block paving can be laid as a permeable system with the right sub-base and jointing, while standard tarmac needs a channel drain or soakaway. A permeable surface also usually avoids the need for planning permission on a front drive.
If your drive crosses a pavement or verge to reach the road, you need the council’s approval for a dropped kerb, built to highway standards. Applications go to the local highway authority — Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire County Council in our area. We can talk it through at the site visit.
Usually not if the surface is permeable, such as resin-bound or gravel. Non-permeable block paving or tarmac over 5 m² at the front may need permission unless water drains to a lawn or soakaway. We will advise, and it is always worth checking with your council.
Sweep it regularly, pull out weeds and moss, and rinse with water. Block paving may need its jointing sand topped up every few years. On resin-bound surfaces avoid harsh acids and clean up oil spills promptly.
